Dos
- Re-assess your diet and exercise regime as the decades pass.
- Have your teeth whitened. You can knock years off your looks and boost your confidence.
- Exfoliate your body at least twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells and allow for skin re-growth.
- Have more sex – research by Italian scientists at the University of Rome has found that regular physical contact, from kissing to sex, is as important to longevity as exercise. It increases endorphins which increase the body’s staying power.
- Take an antioxidant – to protect against free radicals which contribute to ageing. Dark coloured fruits such as blackberries and blueberries contain potent antioxidants.
- Challenge yourself – scared your mind and body is going to pot? It could be that you need some challenges to get you going. Studies show that intelligence is enhanced by learning new skills as you progress through life. So keep pushing yourself.
Don’ts
- Forget your hands - they can give away your age. Moisturise your hands and put oil on your nails every day and they will look glossy and youthful.
- Bake in the sun – older skin can look leathery when too brown and it will age quicker. Fake it instead with a gentle build up and moisturise at the same time.
- Eat too much salt and sugar in your diet - which can lead to water retention and make cellulite worse.
- Focus on your bad points – accentuate your good points. It will make you more positive.
- Worry – can age you faster than an afternoon in the sunshine. If you want to look younger and feel happier get yourself an optimistic nature. Be a glass half full girl.
- Put it off – if you want to realise your dreams take action. Small steps will give you the confidence to continue and make progress.
